Our family moved to Rochester almost five years ago. It’s the best decision we have ever made!
Coming from Queens we felt like moving to Rochester was a breath of fresh air!
Gone are the hour plus commutes on crowded trains. Gone are the constant stresses of traffic, congestion and parking. The community is made up of wonderful warm people, welcoming shuls, and impressive schools. Each and every person is valued and has so many opportunities to contribute in their own special way.
Derech Hatorah has proven to be a wonderful and accommodating school with a high standard both in academics and middos. We look forward to sending our children in the coming years to Ora Academy and the Yeshiva of Rochester as we feel they are both excellent institutions.
We are so grateful to be raising our family in a safe and loving community and encourage all to come for a visit. You won’t be disappointed!

Our family moved to Rochester 3 years ago from NYC. The quality of life in Rochester can’t be compared to that of city life. Our community is small, but warm and welcoming. Life seems simpler, and more manageable without the pressures you would normally find in larger communities. Homes are affordable, our community is safe and our education system is up to the standards that you would come to expect in a Frum community. Best move I ever made, was moving to Rochester NY.

Rochester has been such a warm and welcoming community for our family! This past year we were looking to relocate from a small out-of-town community to a larger community with strong Torah values and a solid educational infrastructure. BH, we found the right place. We were welcomed with open arms by all of the shuls and mosdos, and amazing neighbors! We have several frum families on our block, and our children have tons of friends to play with. Brighton feels like a friendly and safe neighborhood, bli ayin ha’ra, and our children all play together on our block. It has been a great social experience for them. We also found the school we have been searching for in Derech HaTorah. The leadership and drive of Mrs. Goldstein is awe inspiring, and she has worked very hard to get our children the extra services we had not been able to provide them with thus far. In addition I have been very impressed with all of their dedicated teachers and staff. There are many davening and learning options for me, and I feel like this is a community in which I can truly grow and raise my family. Thank you Torah Rochester for helping me connect to such and awesome community.

We made the move from Monsey to Rochester in Summer 2016, and we are really happy with the community and with how warm the community is. We were able to find good jobs, and the cost of living is cheaper in regards to groceries, rent/mortgage, car insurance, all financial aspects. It’s a quiet and safe neighborhood, the schools are on par with/better than mainstream schools you would find in an in-town city. There are always shiurim for both men and women that we really enjoy. All the essential kosher grocery needs are met here. We believe Rochester is a great community to raise and grow our family.

We have been amazed at the incredible warmth of the Rochester community! My wife and I have each made many new friends and feel that we have become a part of this wonderful community very quickly. The community is large enough that we have a choice of minyanim, many shiurim, options for school, kosher shopping, yet small enough to get the small town feel where everyone knows everyone. Housing prices can’t be beat, the neighborhood is safe and beautiful, and the snow really looks nice! Looking forward to greeting you here in Rochester!

The frum community in Rochester is diverse but cohesive. It has the advantage of being both small and out-of-townish, while providing the opportunity to maintain a high standard of Jewish education for children and communal life. You can consider yourself “yeshivish” and also be yourself, which is very refreshing. There is no lack of availability as far as shiurim and chavrusa learning and every member of the community has an opportunity to contribute. The community is friendly and accepting while maintaining a strong level of Yiddishkeit. If you’re looking for “frum but normal,” I can’t think of a better place to attach that label. Last, but not least, this is an amazing place to raise your children.

I really did not know much about Rochester, not to speak about the Jewish community there. My online search has brought me to this site, Torah Life in Rochester, where I found the necessary information about schools for kids, shuls, Yeshiva, real estate, job search, and more. I was definitely surprised to find out a strong Jewish community in Rochester. My wife and I decided to visit, and we were accepted with warm welcoming. We really loved the community. Multiple functioning shuls, kosher products in stores, an impressive school for kids, extremely affordable housing, easy to navigate and clean neighborhood (Brighton), all make it a desirable place for a Jewish family. If you are still uncertain of your decision, I strongly encourage you to read through this website and schedule a visit in Rochester.
